Simplified Permissions

FreeQMS is built by QA people for QA people based on real world use cases.

Regulated manufacturers have three basic QMS users in the real world:

  1. Users who can create new records, edit existing records, and view existing records

  2. Users who can edit existing records, and view existing records

  3. Users who can view existing records

These roles correspond to real world departments:

  • Administrators and technical managers who guide processes

  • SMEs who participate

  • Users in manufacturing and elsewhere who view records

Check out any other EQMS. It doesn't work this way. Other EQMS products have a permissions panel a mile wide.

We found, in years of implementing other EQMS products, that this doesn't work. Quality Assurance and Document Control professionals have enough to do - the last thing they have time for is manually administering user permissions.

That's why FreeQMS is different. FreeQMS has just three permission levels for each module:

  1. Users that can create new records, which have corresponding power to start approval cycles, create new file attachments and links, etc.

  2. Users that can edit existing records, which have corresponding power to participate in approval cycles, add and edit file attachments for existing records, etc.

  3. Users that can view records.

It doesn't need to be more complicated. In fact, in 99% of cases it is detrimental to product and system quality to make it more complicated. A simplified, modern permission system for a simplified, modern system is part of what helps FreeQMS ROI so quickly.
